After receiving more than 300 submissions for the 2018 edition of Dubai Smartpreneur Competition, Dubai Startup Hub brought together the 50 top shortlisted startups for a pitching session at Dubai Chamber headquarters to select ten who'd then move to the final round.

As per Dubai Startup Hub's Twitter, the ten startups who have made it to the final round of the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition are: Airspace Blockchain Co., BYKRIDERS.com LLC, Grape Technology, Intuitio AI, TeleDoc, Tuitify, Wajbati, WakeCap Tech FZ LLC, Yanzo, and YoRipe.

The 50 shortlisted companies, all of which work in the domains of blockchain, AI or digital transformation, got to present their enterprises and ideas to a cohort of judges hailing from across Dubai's entrepreneurial and business ecosystem.

Judges for this segment of Smartpreneur competition included Hans Henrik Christensen. Director, Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre; Alia Al Mazrouei, Board Member, Tejar Dubai Youth Council; Rekha Setpal, Head of Partnerships and Programs, in5 and Sebastian Stefan, CEO, LoadMe, who was the winner of the very first Smartpreneur competition in 2016.

The pitching sessions saw entrepreneurs from across Dubai and the UAE interact with judges in ten-minute sessions that allowed for them to present their respective ventures, as well as respond to questions and clarifications.

While not all 50 of the shortlisted candidates will make it to the ArabNet finals, Dubai Startup Hub has nonetheless offered all of them memberships with the entity, thereby ensuring longer lasting business relationships.

Out of the 50 shortlisted candidates, the pitching session resulted in the selection of the final ten startups that will get to present their enterprises at the ArabNet Digital Summit, happening in Dubai from April 30-May 1, 2018.
